LADYWELL PRIMARY SCHOOL

MAY NEWSLETTER

Photographs

On Wednesday 28th April Tempest Photography were in school for P1 and P7. Photographs were taken individually and then put together as a class group. I am so glad that we were able to mark these two very special years in the children’s education.

Pre Loved Uniform

If you have any items of uniform that are still in good condition but your child no longer needs, please send them into the school.

These items will be quarantined and then made available for other families to choose from.

Outdoor PE Uniform

Starting next session I am introducing a uniform code for outdoor PE. This will consist of black leggings or jogging trousers, a white or yellow plain coloured t shirt, a black sweatshirt/hoodie. These items must be plain with no logos or branded in any way.

Crop tops and patterned leggings will not be acceptable.

This will start from August 2021.

Parental Phone Calls

Over the last few weeks teachers have been updating parents on their child’s progress through phone calls conversations.

A more detailed written report will be emailed out to parents before the end of this term.

Face Coverings

Please remember that face coverings must be worn when dropping or collecting your child from school (unless exempt), even if you are not entering the school gates. Please make sure all adults that collect your child are aware of this requirement.

Transition

Throughout the month of May we will be inviting our new P1 pupils in to meet the P1 teachers and to spend some time inschool.

Children will be invited into school in small groups.

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions I am unable to invite parents into school for our usual information session. Our new P1 parents will be invited to attend a Webex meeting with myself and one of our Deputes, Mrs Curran, where we will welcome them to the Ladywell Primary school community.

P7

At the end of this term we will be saying a fond farewell to our P7 children as they leave Ladywell to embark on their secondary education. At the moment I am not yet able to confirm exactly how we will celebrate this important milestone, however please be assured that we will do all we can to give the children a good send off.

As soon as I can share the details of this I will.

Staggered Start Times

Please do not send your child to school until his/her start time. Some children are entering the playground way before their allocated time. This is not fair to the families who are following the procedures.

I need everyone to adhere to this please.

Parent Council

Our Parent Council meets online the first Thursday of every month. All parents are welcome to join the meetings. If you would like to attend please let me know and I can send you the meeting link.

Our next meeting is our AGM and will take place on Thursday 3rd at 7.00pm.

To find out more about the Parent Council please follow us on Twitter @LadywellParent.

Twitter

Please note that we use Twitter to share good news and pictures of the children engaging in learning.

Please do not use it to ask teachers questions. If you have a query or concern about any aspect of school life please contact the school office or send an email to [email protected]

Thank you.
